Summer Porch Decor
One of the things I really like about this house is the big front porch and the double doors. I love decorating it each season. I've always planned to spend more time sitting out front during the warmer Canadian months, but I never have for one reason or another. Now that Bennett is here and I spend most of my day rocking or swaying him, I thought it was the perfect time to give the porch a little makeover and add some summer decor. The doors were in major need of a paint job. This time I decided we were going to paint the entire frame black as well. Anthony was a bit skeptical at first, but he trusts my good taste, lol. We both love the way it turned out, and so do our neighbours. The colour is BLACK F403-80 by Benjamin Moore.
I replaced my planters last summer with these tall black ones. They've held up exceptionally well. In the winter, some leftover water turned to ice and made them a bit rocky, but once it melted, they were back to normal. I got mine from Lowes. They are currently on sale in Canada. For my US friends, I've linked the same ones for cheaper at Target.
I've been getting DM's all month asking If I would make some more wreaths to sell. I'm not sure I'll have the time to do that, so I've linked some similar ones on Amazon. I'll try to share a DIY on how I made them soon. It was easy peasy.
The Jute rug is from my kitchen, Kendall spilled a purple smoothie on it last summer, and I decided to throw it on the porch to dry after washing. I loved the way it looked, so I kept it there. It's been out all winter as well. The porch is covered. I sweep it once or twice a month, and to my suprise, it's held up.
The rockers, ah the rockers! I've been admiring them for years, but I didn't want to spend the money. I had a Wayfair credit burning a hole in...my virtual pocket, so I splurged and bought them. They could be my favourite purchase ever. They are big, comfy, and rock so smoothly. The kids and I spend hours out front, rocking and chatting.

The most significant change was the doors, they completely changed the way the porch looked and felt. If you are looking to spruce things up on a tight budget, I would start there. Don’t be affraid to paint the frame and any trim the same colour. The beautiful flowers are from our favourite garden centre, Crawfords.

I can't wait to decorate the porch for Fall in just a few short months. Pumpkins, lanterns, mums, and neutral plaid blankets.
Thank you for stopping by.
