Father's Day Gift Guide

Like most of 2020, Father's Day is going to look a lot different this year. I usually wake up early to start preparing a big brunch honouring my Daddy & Anthony. I set a beautiful table, bake muffins, crack eggs, and smile while thinking about the photos I'll capture. I treasure every occasion I get to spend with my Dad because, at 92, I never know when it might be my last. It's true for anyone at any age, really, but when you are growing up with an older than average parent, it is continuously on your mind. I'll figure out some way to make the day special for them both—hopefully the weather cooporates. Have you thought about how you are going to celebrate this year?

I've added to the Father's Day gift guide all year, making notes of what Anthony is buying and loving. A few items are not things we own because they aren't Anthony’s style, but everyone is different, and some of these ideas are pretty great! Each image will take you directly to a supplier's website, some links are an affiliate, and some are not.

  1. Comfortable clothing, Anthony's been wearing t's from Ten Tree for the last 3-4 years. We like that the brand is ethically made and we like their tree planting initiative. You can find out more by visiting their website. www.tentree.ca

  2. For so many years, I would buy Anthony beer and stock the fridge for Father's Day or his Birthday. Since we went Gluten-Free, finding beers he likes has been a challenge. He started drinking Cider a year or so ago, one of his favourites is "Great Cider." The bonus is they are organic and local.

  3. Saxx, Everyone needs underwear, right? Lol! When Anthony's away for work, he's often working in shops with no airconditioning, Saxx is comfortable and breathable. He can wash them with all his regular clothes, and they don't change shape or get fuzzy.

  4. Local passes to parks, clubs, or venues. With a Halton conservation pass, our whole family has access to biking and walking trails.

  5. Small travel cooler, I have we are going to be spending more time picnicking this year. This cooler is the perfect size for drinks, and I love that it has a bottle opener attached.

  6. I don't know a lot of men who do their own shopping. I've been buying Anthony's clothes for years. His favourite shorts are from The Gap, again these keep their structure and wash well when he's away and forced to do his laundry.

  7. There are so many razors on the market; it's hard to choose. I took a gamble on this one, and Anthony has had no complaints.

  8. We use a lot of tools around here. Our go-to is Dewalt. It's nice because the batteries are interchangeable, with all hand tools and even our lawn trimmer.

  9. Bluetooth Speaker. Perfect for the shop, backyard, or when you're travelling. When fully charged, this will last hours.

  10. We went years without having a BBQ because our yard is tiny, and every spring, we would find mice in the bottom. Last year we purchased a small travel BBQ, and we love it. No unneeded fluff and uses less propane than full-sized.

  11. I don't know much about fishing or where to buy what, but Anthony enjoys it when he has the time. I'm hoping we can get the kids out to a dock a few times this summer.

  12. Not all gifts need to be store-bought. A few years ago, Morgan drew this picture of his "Daddy' and his friend David up in heaven. I had a local business engrave it on a box. Morgan didn't get the chance to know Dave, but he's always had a connection to him. He was barely talking when he would start bringing him up. One day in kindergarten, he came home with this picture, and it made our hearts smile.

Happy Early Fathers Day, Anthony! You are such a wonderful father and husband. We are so thankful for you every day. xo
