A Shein Review From Canada
Between my blog, Instagram, and the Brand accounts I manage, I spend a lot of time on the internet! Ads flow in and out of the feeds constantly, but one, in particular, has caught my eye for several months. Shein, A few weeks ago I saw a dress I liked so I clicked the link and there I was, in the world of fast fashion direct from China. Thousands of Pieces in every category with thousands of reviews and only averaging about $20 a dress. After filling and emptying my cart for hours, I thought, what the heck! Let's try it out. I placed my order, then headed to my Instagram account and asked if anyone had any reviews, I couldn't believe how many responded! Everyone wanted a review; they've seen the ads, they've checked out the website, debated, but ultimately left their carts in cyberspace.
Well, curious scrollers, I'm here to share with you my honest review, cost breakdown, and helpful tips so that you can place an order you'll be happy with because no one likes to spend money and constantly track the tracking to be disappointed. I'm not sure how returns work, but I'm assuming it would be a costly process based on the location. I'll find out the details and let you know!
Flounce Sleeve Ruffle Hem Smock Dress $19
Picture 1 is the website photo, picture 2 is my photo, and picture 3 is a close-up of the fabric and colour. Overall I think the website portrayal is a good representation of this dress. I ordered the size small and fit just like all my other size small dresses. The fabric is of average quality, I don't think it would be that breathable in the summer, and it shows sweat even though it's a light colour. The stitching on the seams is a little off but not noticeable because it's flowy.
8/10 for the price, I would buy again.
Ditsy Floral Print A-line Dress $19
Picture 1 is the website photo, picture 2 is my photo, and picture 3 is a close-up of the fabric and colour. Overall I think the website portrayal is off. Online the dress looks like a light pinky colour, but it's much darker in person. The fabric is scratchy and cheap feeling. However, when worn with the right shoes and accessories, it's pretty cute. I ordered the size small and found it a little big. The ruching has some quality issues but not noticeable enough to affect the look of the dress.
6/10 I would not order this dress again.
Ditsy Floral Ruffle Hem Smock Dress $19

When I first tried this dress on, I wasn't happy with it. It looked like something I took from my Grandmother's closet and tried to upcycle. But when I did my hair and put on a nice pair of wedges; It became one of my favourites from the order. Again the fabric is mediocre quality, but it's flattering and comfortable overall.
9/10 I would order this again.
Half Button Solid Smock Dress $16

My expectations for this one were right on. It's by far the softest of the bunch, and I love the effortless style. It's flowy but flattering and not too short, so I don't have to worry about my tush showing when I'm running after Bennett. I bought sz XS.
10/10 I would order again, and I'm going to order other colours.
Knot Shoulder Ditsy Floral Shirred Cami Dress $23
Picture 1 is the website photo, picture 2 is my photo, and picture 3 is a close-up of the fabric and colour. Overall I think the website portrayal is accurate. This was the dress that I saw in the ad online. The model is a lot taller than I am, so it doesn't look quite the same on me. The fabric is the cheaper shiny one, and it’s a bit scratchy. The ruching has quality issues, but overall, you can't tell unless you are inspecting like I was, lol. The ties are cute, but it's hard to get them even. I bought sz Small.
6/10 I wouldn't repurchase this.
Ditsy Floral Tie Shoulder Shirred Cami Dress $18

The colours remind me of lemons in Italy; I've never been there, but Anthony makes me watch Rick Steves almost every day, and the episodes of choice are about Italy. Unfortunately, when I tried this one on, it had quality issues that I couldn't deal with. I ordered XS, but the top fit more like a Medium; it didn't sit right and wasn't comfortable. I'm going to see if my seamstress can turn this into a skirt for me because it's adorable for summer.
4/10 I would not repurchase this.

TIPS:
Don't waste your money on express shipping.
Read the reviews and look at the photos.
Don't buy anything you expect to last.
I wouldn't purchase denim or sweaters because I don't think I would like the quality.
I would suggest buying dresses that are not fitted and easy to wear like the ones I purchased.
