Bemz No Skirt Cover For FÄRLÖV Ikea Sofa
Last fall, I decided to sell my first FÄRLÖV sofa because I hated the skirt; no matter what I did, there was always a pulled look, which drove me crazy. When I had the covers off the sofa for washing, I liked how it looked so much better. I debated trying to staple the skirt to the bottom many times but always chickened out. I had second thoughts about the HÄRLANDA (Read My Review) since day one, so, I often searched online for a different sofa style, and I kept coming back to the FÄRLÖV with the sloped arms and least amount of cushions.
I was so excited when I saw A Bemz ad on Instagram for their new skirt-less style cover. It was precisely how I always envisioned the sofa. I love slipcovered furniture, but I don't particularly like when the covers make it look sloppy. Since I wash my covers often (3 kids, and a dog), It's essential to find a style and fabric that will hold up. White has always been my colour of choice for slipcovers, and I managed to have them for five years without any significant incidents. That was before Gus; lol, that pup can make the biggest mess before I even blink. So this time, I went with unbleached linen, I was hesitant and second-guessed the whole five weeks I was waiting for the cover to arrive, but I was thrilled! The colour is perfect and looks white in my photos and from far away. The material is very soft, and because of the linen texture, it's easy to wipe off any mess that the kids or Gus make. There are different choices and price points for the unbleached linen on the Bemz site; I chose Belgian Linen Blend unbleached because it is stain protected and preshrunk. It's a little more in price but well worth it as I've had both options in the past, and stain protection is 100% the way to go if you have pets or kids. There's a zipper down the centre of the back to make it easy to put the cover on but pulls it tighter to give the sofa a more structured high-end look. Another thing that I appreciate about the no skirt option is that it's easy for me to clean under the couch and see if there's anything under there, like last week when I found Bennett's banana.
The sofa is deep, so it needs a lot of pillows. I wanted to buy them all from Tonic Living because they are so beautiful, but I like to change things around seasonally and wouldn't be able to do that if I bought them all from there. The ones on the end, the big fluffy white ones, came from tonic Living, but the other neutral covers came from H&M, a pack of 3 for $30.00. They have exceeded my expectations; the fabric isn't as soft, but they look great, and like the sofa, they are easy to wipe. Here is the affiliate link
