Living Room Update
It seems like every year around this time, and I get a twitch to switch! When you spend as much time in your home as I do, I think it is pretty normal to get tired quickly. Last year we sold our Farlov and bought the Harlanda Sofa (Both are Ikea), and I've regretted my decision since the Farlov left my living room. I will share an updated review for the Harlanda another time, but I'll say I don't love it!
I'm keeping my Coffee table that Anthony made and my gorgeous rug from Rivercroft, but everything else is gonzo.
It will take a few months before everything comes together, and so things may change a wee bit, but for now, this is what I'm thinking!
I LOVE the look of the cane on this cabinet and the whitewashed tone of the mango wood. I needed something with storage, but that was big enough to fit on the long wall in the living room because I don't want to add any shelving. The bonus about this console is that I don't need to childproof it or worry about Gus biting the knobs..yes, he does that
I've searched the web for months looking for a sofa like the Farlov with covers I like, but I haven't been able to find anything that comes close to a price range I can swing. So I'll order the sofas without covers and keep them in their boxes until the ones from Bemz arrive. I'm using the love seat this time because it doesn't take up as much space, and it will be easier to wash the base cover and put it back on.
No surprise that I'm adding splashes of blue. I was tempted to repaint my coffee table a slate blue colour. This fabric from Tonic Living is one of my favourites! I had pillows made and recovered two accent chairs last fall. I plan to have a lazy roman shade for the window created in this fabric or off-while linen.
Overall I'm going for a minimal easy to clean look in the living room. I have a sofa table with two lamps behind the couch, but it drives me crazy because it collects dust like crazy, and I can't easily vacuum behind it. Since I'm not putting any shelving back up, I can put the floor lamp in one of the corners.
What do you guys think? Do you prefer to have your living room filled with furniture and pictures or shelving on the wall, or do you like a clean open minimal space?
