Morgan's Nautical Themed Room

A Happy Saturday indeed ! Morgan's room is finished. I'm so pleased with the way everything turned out. The best part is, he loves it too. We've made it a full week with him sleeping in his own room.  I'm really happy that he finally feels secure enough to sleep alone. Two years ago when we moved Kendall into her own room Morgan started waking up 4 -7 times a night . Eventually I couldn't handle it anymore and decided to move his bed into our room. It wasn't ideal but it meant that the 3 of us were able to get some much needed sleep. He told me a few months ago that once he turned 6 he was ready to sleep in his own room again. I waited a little while just to be sure.  He's desperate for big cousin Jonny to sleep over. I told him that once he's slept in his room for 3 weeks he can have a sleepover. 1 week down, 2 more to go!

I wanted to give him a more mature look so he could have all the decor for at least the next 5 years. We both agreed on the Nautical theme. He loves Blue, I love white, and red is a nice bright, happy accent colour.

We had his bed made locally, and then stained it ourselves in a water based stain. "Early American" by Sansin. We are really pleased with the quality. I was really excited when I realized the that side rails were hight enough that we could add some under the bed storage. I wanted something practical but also something unique and visually appealing. We went with crates from Micheals. With the 50% off coupon each crate is about $12. I still need to get 6 more. So i'll have 4 on each side. I stained them in the same colour as the bed. They are so handy for seasonal books, toys, extra bedding etc. They slide out really nicely as well .

The bedding?! Isn't it just gorgeous? It's a Homesense find. It was exactly what I was hoping to find.  I didn't want anything symbolic on the quilt, just nice bold colours and a masculine pattern. The queen / double quilt with matching shams was $69.99 the matching pillow was $16.99 and the sheet set was $42.00.

The bookshelves are $6 ikea spice racks stained in the same colour as the bed and the crates.

The dresser was a garbage rescue. It needed new tracks, hardware, and some paint. The total makeover was $45.00. We painted the dresser in "Graphite" by Benjamin Moore. The baskets in the room are from Homesense for $19.99 each.

The knobs were made by a local artisan.  https://www.etsy.com/shop/darosa As soon as I saw them I knew they were a must !

The Lamp and the curtains are from Bouclair. The Lamp was a splurge, I wasn't planning on buying a new light but I saw this and couldn't get it out of my head. It was $69 with 15% off.  I Got the curtains from Bouclair as well for $34.99 a panel with 25% off. They are amazing. They keep the room really dark and nice and cool.

I Made the growth chart, and the signs. The oars are from BassPro and cost about $40 for the set. It's really sweet how proud he is of the signs I made for him. He talks about me like i'm an artist which is so flattering because i'm definitely not at all lol.

I love this view. I told him I would take his room and he can go back in mine. He said "no way, Daddy snores" lol!!

Thank you very much for taking the time to read my little blog. I hope I was able to give you some inspiration, and some valuable information on good deals, and unique finds.

- Love Megan xoxo
