The living room is finished!
I feel like this makeover took forever! The last time we painted was before we had Kendall. Boy, does she slow the process down lol?
The wall colour is "coastal beige" by Behr paints available at Home Depot. Choosing a really light colour meant that I needed something that was durable and something that I could scrub.
I did a little shopping in my dining room and took the lights. When we first bought them from Homesense they were a silver metal and that didn't go well with our decor so we sprayed them with Rust-oleum in the "oil rubbed bronze" I'm super happy with results and so is Anthony because I didn't need to go out and buy new lamps.
I debated making bookcases instead of putting our barn board shelving back up. In the end, I decided I wanted the space on the floor and felt it was easier to keep the shelves clean if the kids couldn't reach them.
The media console is an old dresser from a bedroom set we purchased off a Facebook buy and sell site. We painted it with General Finishes Milk Paint in "Antique White" and lightly distressed it. I love this piece, mainly for it's storage but also for it's unique look.
Anthony made me the coffee table for Christmas 2 years ago. It went into the basement for a few months because I impulsively bought an overpriced ottoman from Homesense. In all honesty, I planned to order a new coffee table that better suited my vision for the living room but I decided to reconsider to keep my budget intact.
I decided to keep the window simple because I wanted to let in as much light as possible. In the near future I may change that but for now, I'm enjoying how bright and clean it looks.
The sofa and the chairs are the "Ektorp" collection from Ikea . For my initial review click here. I love a lot of things about them as listed in my review . The biggest selling feature was the 6" of space from the floor to the frame. Under the bed storage bins fit perfectly and completely hide all the toys .
I'm all about little corners of the house that I can keep clean and clutter free . I retreat to them when I feel like I may go a little crazy with all the mess my kids make . I especially love this corner because it has pictures of Morgan and Kendall as babies . The frame was an old barn window and the little end table is an old ice cream barrel, both off a local buy and sell site. This sweet little corner is also known as "Nono's Cafe" he sits in the same spot every time he comes over .
I know you're all wondering about my pillows! Aren't they gorgeous ?! They are made locally from Window Wraps Et Cetera. The quality is just beautiful and I love these pillows so much that I change them from room to room. I definitely need to order more.
I think that about covers everything.
Thank you all so much for reading! As always for any questions about anything posted please feel free to message me or comment.
Wishing you all a lovely day!
